Senior Health Care Assistant
Pay: £13.50 per hour
Job Description:
We are recruiting for a senior health care assistant - 30 hours or less per week (includes alternate weekends); additional hours can be added covering annual leave / absence; in our 31 bed residential / dementia care home in Eastwood, Leigh on Sea.
4 weekly rota in place
Shifts 8-2pm and / or 2-8pm
Job Description:
Position Title: Senior Health Care Assistant
Reports To: Care Home Manager / Home Manager
Role Purpose
To provide high-quality, compassionate care and support to elderly residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met. Staff will help create a safe, supportive, and homely environment that promotes dignity, respect, and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personal care (washing, dressing, toileting, mobility assistance) in line with individual care plans.
- Support residents with eating, drinking, and maintaining good nutrition and hydration.
- Administer or assist with medications (where appropriately trained and authorized).
- Monitor and report changes in residents' health, wellbeing, or behaviour to health professionals
- Complete Care planning documents and providing documents to health professionals as required
- Assist with recreational and social activities to enhance residents' quality of life.
- Maintain accurate care records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and safeguarding regulations.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Uphold residents' dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
- Contribute to a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working in a care home, nursing home, or similar healthcare setting preferred.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards qualification).
- Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and person-centred care practices.
- Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Patience, resilience, and a compassionate nature.

Working Conditions
