Job Description for Older People’s Care Home
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Full-Time Care Assistant in our care home for older people. The successful candidate will work closely with residents to support their wellbeing, dignity, and independence in a friendly and respectful environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily personal care tasks, including washing, dressing, and grooming.
- Support mobility and help residents move safely around the home.
- Help serving food, and assisting residents as required.
- Monitor and record health and wellbeing, reporting any concerns to senior staff or medical professionals.
- Encourage social interaction and participation in activities to promote mental and emotional wellbeing.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for all residents.
- Follow care plans and adhere to policies and procedures.
- Respect residents’ privacy, dignity, and personal choices at all times.
Essential Skills and Qualities
- Patient, empathetic, and genuinely caring attitude.
- Strong communication skills and ability to listen attentively.
- Reliable, flexible, and able to work as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.
- Experience in a care setting is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided.
Working Hours and Benefits
This is a full-time position, typically requiring 40 hours per week, including shifts, weekends, and bank holidays as needed. Ongoing training, and opportunities for progression within the care sector.
